Citizen Data CEO Named 2022 Senior Practitioner Fellow at UChicago Center for Effective Government

February 28, 2022

The University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy’s Center for Effective Government (CEG) recently announced this year’s cohort of four Senior Practitioner Fellows, including Citizen Data’s founder and CEO, Mindy Finn.

On behalf of Citizen, Mindy will join the Center for Tech and Civic Life’s Tiana Epps-Johnson, the Project on Government Oversight’s Liz Hempowicz, and the Democracy Fund’s Rudy Mehrbani as a fellow in the year-long program.

Launched in 2021, the fellowship brings a diverse group of leaders together for in-depth analyses and stewardship of institutional reforms alongside members of the UChicago community.

The fellowship will be spent exploring ways to research potential reforms to electoral systems, as well as how political and digital communications strategies can bridge divides while combating misinformation and political polarization. Citizen will also partake in a collaborative effort with the University of Chicago’s Data Science Institute that will delve into issues of democracy in the digital age.

“Skilled practitioners should inform the questions we ask about problems of ineffective governance and faltering democratic institutions—and the solutions we seek to them,” said Sadia Sindhu, executive director of the Center for Effective Government. “The track records of these Senior Fellows prove they are equipped to grapple with these problems both thoughtfully and urgently.”
